Isaiah
Isaiah is one of the Old Testament's great prophetic books, moving from warning to comfort and pointing forward in hope. Its later chapters are famous for their tender reassurances to a weary, waiting people. Below are the most-loved Isaiah verses in the King James Version, each with its meaning.
Verses
- Isaiah 40:31
Isaiah 40 comforts a weary, exiled people with the sheer greatness of God, and it closes with this promise: those who 'wait upon the LORD' — who hope in him — 'shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.' It is a favorite verse for exhaustion, endurance, and long seasons of waiting.
